Volunteer Registration Open for the 2022 Common Ground Country Fair

May 31, 2022

Volunteer registration for the 2022 Common Ground Country Fair is open! You can sign up now for volunteer shifts before, during and after the Fair to help support this great event. Individuals, families and groups are all welcome.

Individuals can register for shifts via our website at mofga.org/volunteer. Whether you have a favorite shift you like to return to each year or are excited to try something new, now is a great time to choose your shifts. Planning to bring your friends, family, students or colleagues? We love having big groups volunteer, but signing up early is essential. There are particular areas that are great for groups, and we can help you find the right shift.

Volunteers who work a four-hour shift receive an organic cotton, USA-made Fair volunteer T-shirt, Fair admission on the day of their shift, a one-night camping voucher and a delicious meal served by the Common Kitchen. Those who work additional shifts receive additional meals, camping vouchers and days of free admission. Working a setup shift during the week before the Fair or a cleanup shift during the days after the Fair will earn the same benefits and is a great way to volunteer and have a completely free schedule during the Fair. We are especially seeking folks to volunteer during the days after the Fair, when there is a lot to do in a short amount of time.

Every year the Fair ends with a special event Sunday afternoon and evening — a raffle for all of our volunteers who help on Sunday. Volunteers who have completed a shift that day and our volunteer coordinators gather to celebrate their hard work and dedication. Tables are filled with amazing prizes donated by Fair exhibitors — an apple ladder is often a coveted prize, and our hard-working volunteers also gratefully receive other fantastic items, such as wool socks, pottery, cookbooks, artwork and special items made by our Youth Enterprise Zone exhibitors.

Sunday is a busy day at the Fair, but volunteer numbers are often lower as people travel home. Consider taking a shift in parking, the Common Kitchen, Compost and Recycling, the Children’s Area or another key area of the Fair. We’ll be glad to have you, and you will get to participate in the Sunday raffle! For more information about volunteering at the Fair, contact Caitlyn Barker at the MOFGA office by calling 207-568-6046, emailing  [email protected] or visiting mofga.org/volunteer.
