School Resources

Here at MOFGA, we love welcoming learners of all ages to our grounds and to our programs. If you are a teacher or a student, some of the following programs might be of interest to you:

School Groups at the Fair

We welcome school groups to join us for free at the annual Common Ground Country Fair! To qualify, all you need to do is attend the Fair on Friday and enter through the School Gate, located at the North entrance of the Fair.

While you’re here, perhaps you would like to submit some produce from your school garden in the Exhibition Hall, check out the Young Maine area, and of course explore the many dynamic areas of the Fair.

Orchard Tours

Want to visit MOFGA outside of the Fair? Your class might be interested in a field trip to the Maine Heritage Orchard.

To schedule, please contact Laura Sieger, our Orchard Coordinator.

Gardening Resources

If you’re growing a school garden and want to grow your garden skills, please check out our many gardening resources including a garden newsletter, pest reports, gardening talks and videos, and articles on everything from seed saving to food preservation to weed management.

If you’re looking for gardening resources specific to school gardens, please take a look at the resources offered from our friends at the Maine School Garden Network and Farm to School Network.

Russell Libby Scholarship

If you work with high school students - or are one yourself! - please take a look at our Russell Libby Agriculture Scholar Awards, which are granted yearly.
