Did you know that each year over 2,000 volunteers contribute their time and energy to make the three days of the Common Ground Country Fair possible?
We rely on volunteers to direct traffic, greet fairgoers, sort compost and recycling, entertain children and perform countless other tasks that make the Fair a success. The Fair couldn’t happen without you!
We have volunteer shifts available before, during and after the Fair, continuing until clean-up is complete. In exchange for a four-hour volunteer shift, you’ll receive free admission to the Fair that day, an organic cotton Fair T-shirt, camping privileges, and a meal from the Common Kitchen — not to mention our thanks and appreciation.
To browse available shifts and sign-up, set up a free volunteer profile at mofga.vomo.org. If you are bringing a group or would prefer to register over phone or email, contact Caitlyn Barker, MOFGA’s community engagement coordinator, at [email protected] or 207-568-6046.
Additionally, if you’re inspired to volunteer while at the Fair, you can still sign up by visiting a Volunteer Check-In Tent, located at both the North Gate and the South Gate. Our check-in volunteers will be glad to help you find a volunteer shift that suits you.
The Fair isn’t the only way to volunteer at MOFGA. We stay busy all year, and the more help we get from volunteers, the more we can expand our services and programs. Options vary widely, from the Seed Swap & Scion Exchange in the spring to Farm & Homestead Day in the summer to Great Maine Apple Day in the fall. We also have more general year-round volunteer opportunities at the Common Ground Education Center in Unity (known to many as “the fairgrounds”). Opportunities include helping with gardening and cooking, supporting our membership or certification programs, or contributing carpentry or trades skills to improve our facilities. Whatever your interests and talents, we have something for you.
