The 2023 Common Ground Country Fair schedule is now available online! Every year the Common Ground Country Fair hosts over 700 scheduled events ranging from educational talks about farming and gardening to livestock demonstrations to yoga classes to performances by Maine-based entertainers. This year we are excited to offer many of the staples of the Fair such as the sheepdog demonstrations and children’s garden parade, as well as many new and exciting events like cooking and food preservation demonstrations, a beginner’s guide to going off grid, lessons in veganic farming, and so much more.
Each year, we feature events that you won’t want to miss.
On Friday, September 22 at 10 a.m., Sophia Nguyen Eng, a first-generation Vietnamese-American and author of “The Nourishing Asian Kitchen,” will be presenting “Leaving the Valley for the Mountains: My Story of Starting a Permaculture Mini-Farm” in the DIY #HomeHacks Speakers Tent. Then, at 1 p.m., she will be teaching “Pho Masterclass: A Flavorful Journey into the Heart of Vietnamese Cuisine” in the Country Kitchen Demo Tent. In this pho masterclass, Eng will dive into the art of Vietnamese cuisine and unravel the secrets of creating authentic pho, from crafting a rich broth to mastering the perfect balance of flavors and exploring traditional garnishes.
Noel Paul Stookey, David Mallett and Tim Sample are returning to the Common Ground Country Fair this year to perform music and humor together on the Amphitheater stage at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 24. David Mallett will also be performing a show earlier in the day at 1:30 p.m. on the Amphitheater stage.
