The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) is launching the MOFGA Ambassador Program, a new initiative intended to empower volunteers around the state to make positive change in the communities where they live and work.
This program invites participants from across Maine to serve as part of a year-long cohort, working together to advocate for organic farming and foster sustainable communities. MOFGA encourages applications from individuals ages 16 and up with diverse identities, experiences, and skills.
“MOFGA was founded by volunteers in 1971, and volunteers have been at the heart of our work for over 50 years,” says Timothy Boston, community engagement coordinator. “The Ambassador Program continues this legacy, and it sets the stage for volunteers to work in their communities to advance our mission of a future where local organic farming nourishes everyone.”
Ambassadors will receive training, collaborate on projects, and bring MOFGA’s mission to schools, events, and gatherings statewide. In this inaugural year, Ambassadors will also play a key role in shaping the program, sharing their ideas and expertise to design the work of future cohorts.
Applications for the MOFGA Ambassador Program are open now and are due by February 28, 2025. Selected participants will be announced on March 21, 2025, with the program officially beginning in April 2025.
Those who are interested can apply by completing the Google Form available on MOFGA’s website at mofga.org/our-community/volunteer/. Contact Timothy Boston at [email protected] or 978-255-3180 for more information.
