We’re excited to share our new public policy platform, which prioritizes six policy areas:
- Climate & Energy
- Farm Viability
- Human Health & Environment
- Organic Integrity
- Organic Research & Education; and
- Social Justice & Equity.
We’re developing legislative campaigns around specific bills focusing on: healthy soils and farmland protection; farm markets; per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on land, in water, in consumer products, and in humans; minimizing reliance on pesticides like glyphosate, neonicotinoids and chlorpyrifos; standing in solidarity with the Wabanaki Alliance as it seeks tribal sovereignty; and efforts to address the existential threat presented by our rapidly changing climate.
As bills emerge for consideration by Maine’s Legislature, MOFGA will post details about our campaign plans. We are so fortunate to have members in every legislative district in the state. We hope you will help us promote the general themes presented in our public policy platform by sharing it with the people elected to represent you in the Maine Legislature.
