Triple Chick Farm

Triple Chick Farm is a MOFGA- certified organic farm in Town Hill, ME. The 2022 growing season was our (Anna and Adam Perkins’) first season managing Triple Chick Farm. We eagerly anticipate this second season in 2023 emphasizing a welcoming and supportive work culture. We love our work as farmers and are excited to grow in the community and on this land. We will sell produce and flowers via our on-site farm stand, a local online market, and local, wholesale accounts. Our farm is located on the busy and beautiful Mount Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park.

Hours and Work Season

We are hiring full-time (5 days) workers for April-October 25th and June-October 25th. Opportunity for part-time hours in the winter season may be available.

Full Time work is: 8 hour days, 5 days between Monday-Saturday. This includes a paid 30 minute lunch, accrued paid time off, and accrued unpaid personal days. We supply shared wet gear and protective gear.

We are only hiring part time positions on a case-by-case basis for at least 4 or 3 days per week.

Job Description

In this position, employees will be responsible for general, diverse farm tasks. Led by farm managers, followed by field assistant manager and wash station manager, field crew will be primarily responsible for field and bed preparation, transplanting and seeding, preventative management and control of weeds/pests/disease, crop training and maintenance, tunnel upkeep and management, harvesting, and cleaning and packing produce. Secondarily, field crew will have opportunities to be involved in plant house propagation, deliveries, flower processing, establishment/maintenance of perennial corridors, and small construction projects. On a weekly to monthly-basis, field-focused hires may be asked to rotate into the farm stand. Responsibilities in a retail environment may include opening and closing the farm stand starting as early as 7:00am and as late as 6:30pm, communicating with retail and wholesale clients, stocking and maintaining the displays, keeping inventory, and working at the register. From all team members we require:

Punctuality and attendance
Energetic focus on TCF daily tasks- all tasks are important! Farm work requires very skilled labor and passion!
A history of work in a physical job, preferably on an organic, diversified vegetable operation.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Working in the elements.
Doing continuous and repetitive tasks.
Effective and efficient work in a fast-paced and in-flux work environment.
A consistent desire to improve and be open to constructive feedback.
Respectful, open, good humored and kind interfacing with all people in the work, retail, and community environment.
Employees at all levels of experience to be trained on the farm through demonstration and hands-on-work.
