MOFGA’s Financial Resources for Farmers

We regularly offer farm grants and other financial assistance. Learn more about open and upcoming financial assistance programs.
Maine Produce Safety Improvement Grants (MPSIG) help specialty crop growers (i.e, growers of fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops) to: implement on-farm food safety practices; transition to compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule (PSR); and meet market demands for on-farm food safety.
This loan program, guaranteed through MOFGA, is designed to help organic farmers and processors, particularly new and young farms and businesses, to build credit and relationships with a local bank.

Former Financial Programs

These funds are to be used for professional consultation and services for business planning, financial analysis or record-keeping development, market research to assess new markets, legal consultation for succession planning or incorporating, branding and logo design, and similar technical support work.

Farm Financial Video Series

Our series of short videos is a new library of easily accessible resources that farmers can choose and use on their own. Alone, each video will allow a farmer to gain knowledge and insights into specific risks, opportunities or industry benchmarks that they currently may face, as well as provide information on how to utilize tools within their financial spreadsheets to better understand their business, make good informed decisions, and plan ahead for resiliency.
