Here’s a memory from Seraphina Erhart:
“I was only 10 and not old enough to volunteer yet but I wanted to hang out with my neighbor/childhood friend Jen who was 4 years older, so I would always spend her children’s area shifts with her. Here you can see she had painted my face. A few years later I would also volunteer in the children’s area. Painting faces, helping kids learn to walk on stilts, make crafts, etc. etc. We loved the fair, we felt safe there, allowed freedom while also connecting with friends for a long weekend! I still feel a certain kind of ‘at home’ each year I’m able to attend. And Jen and I still regularly reminisce about these days.”
