Here’s a memory from Glenn Texter:

“I just wanted to let you know that my mother, Beatrice Texter, also a member of MOFGA, sadly passed away on Wednesday, August 18. Although at 83 years old, she volunteered for the first time at the CGCF handing out the MOFGA Fair newspaper at the Rose Gate. She had been living with me since 2016, and always saw how much I looked forward to and enjoyed volunteering every September at the CGCF. In 2018, she told me she wanted to volunteer too. I contacted Andrew Graham at the time to see if it was possible for her to volunteer and if she could be accommodated, since by that time she was only able to get around in her wheelchair. Andrew and the Fair staff were gracious enough to accommodate her in both 2018 and 2019 for the CGCF, and then again for the 2019 Great Maine Apple Day, which we both volunteered at. For many months after the CGCF, everyone she spoke to, she told them how much she enjoyed volunteering. It truly was the highlight of the year for her!

I personally want to thank MOFGA for giving my mother so much joy in the twilight years of her life. You just don’t know how much it means to me to have seen her enjoying herself the way she did. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart!”
