Dehydrating Garden Produce

July 14 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm

Free

Food dehydration is a simple technique that involves removing water in foods in order to preserve them. However, it also concentrates flavor and results in tasty foods that can be eaten by themselves or used in all kinds of recipes! Dried foods are also nutritious, lightweight, and easy to store and use.

Learn best practices for drying fruits and vegetables in season, whether from your own garden, CSA (Community Supported Agriculture share) or farmers’ market. Wendy Watson, MOFGA’s Fair Food Liaison and chef, will help you get set up to dehydrate seasonal produce. She’ll share recommendations for equipment and talk about her favorite tried-and-true techniques.

She will also share some simple, tasty and nutritious recipes to make with your dried fruits and vegetables later on in the year.  This workshop is designed for the beginner in mind.
