Apple Fest Schedule
Friday, October 3
  • 9:30-11:30am: Apple Harvesting Field Trip with Cobscook Experiential Program, open to the public. $20 (sliding scale for local residents), registration required. Join our high school students and local apple enthusiast Kara McCrimmon for a tour of Cobscook Bay’s delicious wild apple trees. Help students harvest apples to be used for the October 6 Community Dinner and CEP dessert fundraiser. Participants will carpool in the Cobscook Institute vans. Click to register.

Saturday, October 4
  • 1-5pm: Apple Display (staffed 1-2pm, 4-5pm). Free/by donation, registration not required. Come and check out the vast variety of gorgeous apples found in the State of Maine (viewing only, no tasting). This display is offered courtesy of the Maine Heritage Orchard (MHO) at MOFGA. Donations to the MHO welcome.
  • 2-4pm: Fall Orchard Care Workshop with C.J. Walke of MOFGA, $20 (sliding scale for local residents). As the season winds down and winter weather looms, what can you do to give your apple trees the best chance to survive? In this workshop C.J. will share with participants the best practices for fall orchard care. This workshop is suitable for orchardists of all levels, with any number of apple trees. Come prepared for hands-on work on Cobscook Institute’s campus. Click to register.

Sunday, October 5
  • 9am-1pm: Apple Display (staffed 1-2pm, 4-5pm). Free/by donation, registration not required.   • 10am-noon: Rejuvenating Old Apple Trees Workshop with C.J. Walke of MOFGA, $20 (sliding scale for local residents). Elderly apple trees standing watch over many properties Downeast. In this workshop C.J. will share tips and tricks to revive old apple trees to encourage health and productivity. This workshop is suitable for orchardists of all levels, with any number of apple trees. Come prepared for hands-on work on Cobscook Institute’s campus. Click to register.
  • Time TBD: Apple Cider Donuts for sale by the Towne Fryer, local donut king.

Monday, October 6, 5-8pm
  • Apple Fest Community Dinner and Makers Market, sponsored by Scythe Supply. Join us for our monthly free/by donation Community Dinner, but with an apple theme! Makers will be setup throughout the Commons building with their wares for sale. Weekly Monday Night Music will add a festive backdrop of folk music – sit in to play along or listen. Cider pressing demos will take place on the patio. Click for more info.
  • Cobscook Experiential Program Dessert Auction Fundraiser. Support the high school by buying a special treat for yourself or a neighbor.
