Job Description

The Farm Overseer will direct all aspects of the farm operation and growth at Hackmatack, including the overall vision for the farm business and infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity for a new or existing farmer(s) to evolve a small turn-key operation into a long term sustainable lifestyle business. The ideal candidate meets the following criteria:
Experienced to meet all aspects of a farm operation
Willing to act as the ‘face of the farm’ when greeting visitors at the farm and farm store
Light carpentry skills for building/maintaining fencing and other hands-on projects
Flexibility and willingness to collaborate with the land owner’s needs/expectations
Passionate about farming and community engagement with a teacher/educational approach

Responsibilities:
Grow the farm into a profitable, sustainable, and community oriented enterprise
Oversight of the farm store during public events
Manage and evolve the existing meat product business

Additional Details:
The expectation is that the Farm Overseer will retain all earned profits from the success of the business.
There is currently no housing available on the property.
The Overseer has free use of all/any existing machinery and infrastructure on the property including tractors, barns, etc.
The right candidate will collaborate with the land owner for mutual alignment of a long term business arrangement, infrastructure improvements, and overall vision.
