Bahner Farm
Bahner Farm is a family farm producing MOFGA certified organic mixed vegetables. 2024 will be our 15th year. We grow in the field, hoophouses, and heated greenhouses. We are located on Rt. 3, only 5 miles from Belfast.
Our primary operation is mixed vegetable production for our farmstand, a multi farm CSA and wholesale accounts. We also grow annual garden seedlings that we sell through our farmstand in the spring and early summer. We typically have 6-8 employees April-October, and 2-3 employees November-March.

Hours and Work Season
This position is part time, about 20-30 hours/week, hourly pay $17-19/hour depending on experience. We are looking for 3 additional farm crew and wash pack employees for 2024. This can be a seasonal job ending in late October, or a year-round position for the right person.
Approximate hours:
May – October: Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 7:00-3:30ish
November-April: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – 8:00-4:00 (Or just 2 of these 3 days if desired)
A work day includes a paid 15 minute break, and unpaid 30 minute lunch.

Job Description
Our farm crew is the backbone of the farm. Farm crew participate in daily tasks to keep the farm running. These tasks change throughout the year.
When divided by season, the main tasks are:
MARCH-APRIL: Seeding, harvest, greenhouse preparation
MAY-JUNE: Seeding, transplanting, weed control, and cultivation, harvesting
JULY-AUG: Harvesting, late plantings, weed control, cultivation
SEPT-OCT: Fall harvests, winter crops preparation, farm maintenance
NOV-FEB: Harvest, seeding, farm maintenance
For Wash/Pack crew, The main tasks are produce washing, produce packing, and washroom cleanliness and organization. Wash/pack crew also assists with early morning harvests.
Important skills and qualities:
Effective time-management
Strong work ethic
Farm work experience or other experience in physical labor
Love of the outdoors
Able to lift 50 lbs easily and repeatedly
Able to work efficiently and cheerfully for long periods of standing, kneeling, bending and lifting.
Not required, but much appreciated: Drivers license, and ability to drive a manual transmission.
Friendly attitude and a good sense of humor – We like to have fun at work.
We expect, most of all, an earnest commitment to the farm and enthusiastic participation. Farm work includes heavy physical labor – we are looking for workers who would see this as a welcome challenge, and not drudgery.

Mike manages field production and maintenance, compost production, and building and equipment maintenance and repair. The farm crew works with him occasionally.
