Using Spreadsheets to Assess Risks and Make On-Farm Decisions: Real Life Examples

Catherine Durkin, MFT & Calyx Farm and Jed Beach, FarmSmart & 3 Bug Farm
February 24,2026
4 p.m. on Zoom
Please register here.

The session uses real farm financial examples to guide decision-making and assess risk.  Catherine Durkin of Calyx Farm and MFT discusses how her farm makes crop planning decisions using sales and financial data.  Jed Beach of 3 Bug Farm and FarmSmart discusses the process he and his wife use to regularly check in on their financials and reevaluate their plans.

Attendance at this workshop makes you eligible to work for free with either Jed Beach, Rose Wilson, or Catherine Durkin. As part of that TA you will work to develop and analyze your own spreadsheets to assess risks and opportunities specific to your farm.

This work is supported by the Northeast Extension Risk Management project award no. 2024-70027-42540, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
