The Gift of Seed with Petra Page-Mann

September 22 @ 4:10 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

This event is hosted by College of the Atlantic (COA).

Do you love Robin Wall Kimmerer’s words and hunger for putting them into practice in your life? Join us for a lively, participatory practice and conversation of gift economy with Petra Page-Mann of Fruition Seeds. After 12 years of selling regionally adapted seeds from their farm in western New York, Fruition has committed to sharing seeds to cultivate gift culture. Come feel, reflect and embody gift economy with us! Everyone will return home with practices to engage in daily life as well as an abundance of seeds to grow more abundant futures for us all.

From 4:10-5:30 p.m. we will engage in conversation about gift economy principles and practices. We’ll break for dinner 5:30-6:30 p.m. (bring your own or purchase on campus or in town). Anyone who wishes can return from 6:30-8:00 to dive into gift practices and a seed gifting experience. Bring a bag to bring home seeds as well as a friend and your hunger for a more fruitful world we grow together.

COA is located at 105 Eden Street in Bar Harbor, Maine. The workshop will take place in the Center for Human Ecology, the building labeled #10 on this map.

This workshop is part of the College of the Atlantic Food & Farming Workshop Series, sponsored by COA’s Food Systems Working Group and the Thoreau Foundation. Series contact: Kerri Sands, [email protected]. Petra’s visit is in collaboration with the Maine Heirloom Seed Network.
