Learn all about summer fruit tree pruning in this new workshop lead by Edgar Evenkeel! While pruning is generally done while trees are dormant, summer pruning can be a valuable method to add to your fruit tree care toolkit. In this workshop, participants will learn about summer pruning apple, pear, and stone fruit for increased sunlight and airflow, in order to improve the quality of the fruit crop and reduce the risk of fungal diseases. Find out when, why, and how to engage in summer pruning; receive a demonstration of summer pruning techniques; and practice these pruning techniques on the College of the Atlantic (CoA) Community Garden’s fruit trees.

This pruning workshop will be held outdoors. There is bathroom access in buildings on the CoA campus just across from the community garden. With the warmer June weather, we recommend wearing long but lightweight clothing to prevent ticks and sunburn. In the event of severe weather, this event will be moved to June 2.

Please contact us if you have any questions about accessibility and accommodations for this event!
