Learn to prune fruit trees to encourage vigorous growth, healthy fruit set and quality fruit yield. Collection and storage of scionwood will also be discussed. This workshop is appropriate for those who haven’t pruned fruit trees before, or those who have just a little experience. Instructors will discuss basic pruning practices and required tools, as well as branch collars, waterspouts, fruit buds, and more.
Unity workshop led by MOFGA’s Downeast Agricultural Specialist, C.J. Walke. Mt Desert Island workshop led by Edgar Evenkeel. Springvale workshop led by MOFGA’s Orchard Coordinator, Laura Sieger. Bethel workshop led by Eric List. Instructor for the Aroostook workshop TBD.
