Join MOFGA for our annual Kitchen Licensing Workshop!
This in-person workshop is designed for farmers, homesteaders, and aspiring small business owners interested in producing value-added food products (e.g. cheese, ice cream, baked goods, preserves, ferments) to sell for retail in Maine. Participants will learn about the process of licensing; become familiar with food health & safety standards; and learn from the experiences of local small business operators who produce value-added food products.
The day’s schedule:
- 9:30 am – 10:30 am: Sierra Shaw, Quality Assurance Inspector with the State of Maine Department of Agriculture
- 10:30 am – 11:30 am: Beth Calder, Extension Food Science Specialist & Professor, School of Food & Agriculture at U-Maine
- 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Catered lunch!
- 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm: Panel of Local Small Business Owners & Licensed Kitchen Operators
- 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Mock kitchen inspection, lead by Sierra Shaw
There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and connect with both experienced and aspiring food business owners. Hope to see you there!
