Spend a summer evening touring a vibrant school garden!
At the Troy Howard Middle School Garden Project, students tend a 1/3 acre garden and a year-round greenhouse — producing veggies, fruits, flowers, heirloom seed crops, and more. The garden provides both material sustenance and educational enrichment. Student-harvested produce — over 1,500 pounds of it yearly — goes primarily to the cafeteria for use in school lunches; and seedlings, greens, and garlic bulbs are sold to the community. In addition, the garden is a “living laboratory” for student projects spanning all subjects. On this tour, participants will have the chance to walk through the school garden and learn about what’s growing there, as well as the ins and outs of how the school garden operates.
Registration info: Tours in the Gather & Grow Series are kept free, with support from participant donations. You can support MOFGA and the Troy Howard Middle School Garden Project by making a donation in the “checkout” form when you register for this tour, or in-person at the tour.
*In the event of sever weather, this tour will be postponed to July 11 at 6 pm.
