Do you have an old apple or pear tree on your property that hasn’t been touched in years? These trees have an amazing capacity to produce beautiful fruit for a long time – and your tree may still have lots of life left in it! Learn how to bring it back into a healthy, productive state.

At this outdoor workshop instructors will demonstrate proper pruning techniques with a focus on trees that have been unmanaged. This class differs from our pruning classes in that the trees will be older and haven’t been pruned in a long time. Some of these tall old trees will require ladders and/or ropes to access the canopy.

Participants should dress warmly and bring their pruners, loppers, and saws (if they have those pruning tools.)

This class will be taught by C.J. Walke, Downeast Agricultural Specialist with MOFGA.
