Peggy Rockefeller Farm

PRF focuses on the production of pastured and rotationally grazed livestock products. The farm raises grass-fed lamb and pork as well as certified organic pastured poultry. Currently, the farm has a mixed flock of Romney and Katahdin sheep for dual purpose production. The farm is also home to a small mixed group of heritage breed cross pigs and a flock of approximately 400+ mixed breed laying hens. Seasonally PRF raises MOFGA Certified Organic Poultry in the form of and additional 200-600 meat chickens (broilers). All poultry is slaughtered on site in PRF’s poultry processing facility.

Job Description

Our livestock crew participates in all aspects of production including daily animal care, fencing for rotational grazing, poultry processing, light veterinary care, washing and packaging eggs, product deliveries and other facilities maintenance. Job Responsibilities: Feeding and daily care of livestock (sheep, cattle, swine and poultry). On farm poultry processing on slaughter days (typically 1x/week). Egg washing and packing. Implementation of the rotational grazing system plan as overseen by the supervisor. Fence line construction, repairs and maintenance. Package and delivery of farm goods to wholesale and retail outlets. Assist with farm cleaning and maintenance. Tasks may range from cleaning the workshop spaces to cutting brush along the property edges. Use all tools, equipment and vehicles safely and conscientiously. Keep all work areas clean and organized. Arrive on time and give ample notice of requests for time off. Maintain constructive communication with all members of the crew.

Benefits

$17/hr. All crew receive a 15% discount on the retail price of our farm products. Opportunities for free produce and meat available periodically throughout the season. Off-farm, shared housing is available for rent through COA. The apartment is shared with other farm crew.
