This webinar will review how to grow native plants from seed, focusing on easy to grow native perennials suited for Maine gardens. We’ll guide you through the process, from sowing seeds to transplanting seedlings, using straightforward techniques that any gardener can apply. Topics will include seed sowing methods, protecting your seeds and young plants from critters, and dividing perennials in the spring. Ideal for gardeners who are new to starting native plants from seed.

Speaker: Pamela Hargest

Bio: Pamela Hargest provides technical assistance to home, school, and community gardeners through a variety of educational programs designed to build horticultural skills and support individual goals. As the Master Gardener Volunteer Coordinator in Cumberland County, she works closely with volunteers and community partners to develop educational initiatives that promote sustainable, environmentally friendly gardening practices grounded in research-based information. Pamela also manages the UMaine Gardens at Tidewater Farm, a public garden and teaching site located in Falmouth.
