Bumbleroot Organic Farm is a certified organic vegetable and flower farm located just 10 miles from Portland, Maine. We grow 6 acres of vegetables and 1 acre of cut flowers for our CSA, farm stand, and wholesale accounts. We have 6 high tunnels, 6 caterpillar tunnels, and a heated propagation house and employ 10 – 12 farmers during the summer season. We are very focused on soil health, climate resilience and community engagement. Our mission is to connect people from our community with the land and food that sustains us, and to strengthen our local food system.

Job Description

We are hiring flower crew positions for the 2024 season – focus is on cut flower production, harvest and bouquet-making. Crew members participate in all daily activities on the farm including (but not limited to) seeding, transplanting, weeding, trellising, harvesting and processing flowers. You will also be expected to set up irrigation, wash totes and flower buckets, make bouquets for our flower CSA and farm stand, pack wholesale orders, and interact with customers.

Requirements:

– Must have at least one full season of farming experience on a commercial farm
– Efficiency and strong work ethic
– Focus and attention to detail and quality standards
– Excellent listening and communication skills & team mentality
– Positivity, kindness and compassion – even in the face of grueling weather and long harvest days
– Eagerness to learn and grow as a farmer
– Openness to instruction and feedback
– Organization and a sense of initiative
– A willingness to work both independently and in a team setting
– Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record and reliable transportation to the farm (10 miles outside Portland, ME)
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least one full season of vegetable farming experience on a commercial farm. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and be on your feet for 6 hours straight. We are looking for candidates with the following traits:

We do not offer housing so reliable transportation to and from the farm is necessary (we are located 25 minutes from downtown Portland), along with a valid driver’s license for driving farm vehicles in the field and on delivery routes.
