Nigel Palmer
Experimental Gardener and Author
Nigel Palmer is an experimental gardener relying on the amazing complexities of nature to inspire his food growing philosophies and the author of the book “The Regenerative Grower’s Guide to Garden Amendments.”
Understanding and working with nature, closing waste gaps, and making mineral and biological amendments using local materials forms the basis of any sustainable, regenerative approach to agriculture.
In his workshops Palmer will demonstrate how to make and apply mineral amendments made with simple ingredients, in some cases closing waste gaps. He will discuss the mineral composition of many amendments and discuss how they may be used to facilitate phases of plant growth throughout the growing season.
Nigel will be speaking at the DIY #HomeHacks Speakers Tent each day at 10 a.m. on “Sustainable, Low Cost Mineral Amendments: Making Vinegar Extractions.” You can also join him on Friday at 2 p.m. for “Provide plants the nutrients they need now! Foliar Spraying” and on Saturday at 2 p.m. for “Sustainable, Low Cost Mineral Amendments: Making Fermented Plant Juice.”

Kathi Langelier
Founder of Herbal Revolution Farm + Apothecary
Kathi Langelier has been working with plants for over 25 years. It is one of her life’s passions, but it goes beyond being a passion. Whether she is working with plants for herself or her family, or creating formulas for Herbal Revolution Farm & Apothecary, based in Union, Maine, she always thinks of how the plants can be incorporated into her daily routine. This is and has been her lifestyle, and it can be yours, too.
Please join Langelier to learn how herbs and plants can easily be incorporated into your daily routine. The goal isn’t just to work with plants when we’re sick and have acute issues, it’s about using and working with them daily and having them be a part of our everyday lives. She will be speaking in the DIY #HomeHacks Speakers Tent each day at noon; her talk is called “Start Your Own Herbal Revolution.” It will be followed by an herb walk, which will meet at the DIY #HomeHacks Speakers Tent at 1 p.m. and depart from there.
