Meeting House Herb Farm

We are primarily a medicinal herb farm. We offer seedlings, dried herbs, fresh herbs and herbal extracts. We also run a 25 farm herb growers collaborative with other farms in the Northeast. We primarily sell online. We have a grow room, small greenhouse, dry room and herb processing kitchen. We are seed to tea. We also bag, store and sell other farms herbs.

We start seeding in February with enough work for apprentices by April. Our season runs April – November with opportunity to work in the apothecary over winter.

We are a suburban herb farm. We also grow heirloom veggies for a few local restaurants. We are on 2.5 acres surrounded by houses. Our land is a sanctuary in the midst of population. The land has been farmed since 1731.

We provide instruction in many ways. We have a SOP manual to read. We always start with a demonstration, followed by working with the apprentice. We will eventually leave the apprentice to work on their own with accountability check ins.

Daily check ins to start most days. I’m almost always on the farm. Available for questions. I like to give a project or task, demonstrate, work alongside and then leave them to finish. I typically check in once the project is done.

$1200/ month. Stipends will be available commensurate with experience.

Yes. All apprentices will need to be interviewed, preferably in person. We have a 90 day trial period.

We have an SOP manual. We will check in and talk through any new process and give feedback. We also have a weekly accountability team meeting.

I believe in the power of plants to heal and empower humans to be their best selves. I believe in whole plant medicine. I believe the best medicine comes from lovingly tended and harvested plants. We practice both biodynamic and organic methods. My dream is to create a farming collaborative of local herb farmers in each area of the US so that all of the medicinal herbs needed in the US are regeneratively farmed right here. This in turn will add biodiversity to farms and to farmers crop plans.

I believe in working hard, taking rest days if you are on your menstrual cycle and being kind. We live by the moon here. I encourage everyone who works here to work within their cycle. I believe even if you have different values and beliefs you can find common ground and talk about that.

We have had folks of many different beliefs on our farm over the years. When our values are really different they don’t often stay for more than a year…but we all have been able to work together for the season.

We value each member of our team. We celebrate differences and learn from each other. My dream is to have every farmer be an herb farmer. Hosting apprentices and sharing in their education supports that dream. We are regenerative farmers, are no-till, organic and biodynamic. We are also working to be financially sustainable for ourselves and member farms.

Our farm has W2 workers as well and we comply with farm safety and labor rules.
