Volunteer as an Area Coordinator

Would you like to join the Fair Planning Team? Area Coordinators organize every aspect of the Fair – from organizing speakers to laying out parking lots to working at the gates. Coordinating is an amazing way to support the Fair and work with a group of amazing people.

We have openings for coordinators, assistant coordinators, and understudies. We have leadership opportunities before, during and after the Fair.

Below are some projects and areas where we are looking for help and where you can make a difference. Interested in learning more?  Please contact Andrew Graham, MOFGA’s Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected] or 207-568-4142. He’ll be happy to help find the opportunity that’s right for you!

Current Openings on the Fair Planning Team include:

  • Alternative Transportation Co-Coordinator: This position involves helping to organize buses from Maine's major cities (mostly from continuing education programs or the Y) to come to the Fair.
  • Common Kitchen Support Co-Coordinator: This position joins two established Coordinators in the Common Kitchen who orient volunteers to the dishwasher and ensure that dishes are washed, dried, put away, and set out at meal times. Dishwashing experience a plus!
  • Country Store Co-Coordinators: These positions join an established team. One position involves managing store inventory, including checking the boxes arriving before the Fair, and taking inventory after the Fair; the other involves being in the store during the Fair and helping troubleshoot register issues. Experience in retail or warehouse/inventory management desired!
  • Livestock Gate Coordinator: This position involves being at the Livestock Gate and helping exhibitors bring their livestock trailers onto the Fairgrounds and park them appropriately. Experience with livestock trailers necessary.
  • North Parking Co-Coordinators: This position involves directing the traffic flow in the North, Maxim and Crosby Parking lots, including orienting volunteers to the necessary duties and communicating with Safety and other Coordinators.
  • Drinking Water Station Coordinator: This position involves setting up and restocking the cup dispensers at the drinking water stations, ensuring that the drinking water station areas are tidy, and developing appropriate signage.

MOFGA Volunteer Survey

Are you volunteering for the Common Ground Country Fair?

Thank you! The 2,000+ volunteers who make the Fair happen do everything from parking cars to coordinating logistics. With this amazing diversity, MOFGA is always working to improve support for our volunteers.

We want to hear from you! What worked well and what needs improvement? Please fill out this Volunteer Survey and we will refer to the information throughout the year as we plan for the 2020 Fair. As you fill it out, supplemental questions will appear in a few places to ask for more detail, but it should only take about 10 minutes to give us your feedback.

We appreciate you very much, and hope that you come back to volunteer next year, and bring a friend!
