MOFGA Events

Throughout the year, MOFGA hosts hundreds of meetings, workshops, conferences, dinners and festive gatherings. Many take place at our Common Ground Education Center in Unity, Maine. Organic Orcharding Workshop: Bench Grafting Fruit Trees

April 4, 2020
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fee: $55; $40 for MOFGA members
Two locations: Unity, Saco

Please bring your own bag lunch

Learn to propagate and reproduce your favorite fruit tree varieties. Instructors will explain why to graft and will demonstrate the techniques for whip & tongue grafting. Participants will graft trees to take home and plant. Care for the new trees will also be discussed. Fee includes all supplies including rootstock, scionwood and handouts. Saco location led by Matt Kaminsky. Unity workshop led by Jen Ries and MOFGA's Orchard Coordinator, Laura Sieger. Downeast workshop led by MOFGA's Orchard Educator, CJ Walke.

Please bring a bag lunch. You will need to purchase a grafting knife in advance of this event! Any old knife will NOT do; but we will have several grafting knives to lend to those without.
