January 25, 2019

MOFGA recognized three people at its annual meeting on January 15, 2019.

John Bunker was honored "for his work in protecting Maine's heritage apples and bringing the Maine Heritage Orchard to fruition." A few trees in the MEHO bore their first fruits in 2018!

Scott Budde and MOFGA board member Sam May were recognized for their work on the Maine Harvest Credit Project. The two reported that they hope to open the credit union doors in mid-2019. It will be the first credit union organized around a better food system through lending to small farms and food producers.
