Position: Director of Development and Membership

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for meeting MOFGA’s yearly fundraising goals, supervising all aspects of the development and membership department including implementation of fundraising activity, coordination of efforts with other key MOFGA departments, and managing the Fundraising Committee.

Hours and Salary: 40 hours — Monday through Friday, and additional evening and weekend hours as needed for events. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 annually, dependent upon experience.

Position: Heritage Orchard Assistant

Primary Responsibilities: Assist MOFGA’s Orchard Program Manager in maintaining MOFGA’s orchards to reach their maximum educational potential and preserve heritage apple and pear varieties for future generations.

Hours and Salary: This is a part time temporary position, requiring approximately 32 hours of work per week for 12 weeks, from the beginning of June through the end of August. The actual start and end dates are flexible, but the 12 week work period is firm. The hourly rate for this position is $16 – $18 per hour, depending on experience.

Position: Organic Staff Inspector (two positions available)

Primary Responsibilities: The Staff Inspector performs organic inspections, including applicant, annual and unannounced inspections, pesticide residue sampling, and generates reports and other documents for MOFGA Certification Services (MCS). MCS is a USDA-accredited organic certifier, certifying over 500 crop, livestock, and handling operations in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. This position is critical for conducting a large portion of MCS’ inspections (at least 100 annually) across all MCS programs. 

Hours and Salary: This is a full-time position; normally 40 hours per week; some weekend and evening hours as needed. This position requires travel within MCS’ service territory, overnight travel, off-site visits to clients, as well as office-based work. This position is required to be Maine or New Hampshire-based and the inspector will be able to work remotely from home. The starting salary range for this position is $42,000-46,000 annually, dependent upon experience.

Position: Common Ground Country Fair Assistant

Primary Responsibilities: Provide administrative support to the Common Ground Country Fair manager and Fair team, assist with all tasks and functions related to the Common Ground Country Fair as needed, and ensure the Fair office and the Fair runs smoothly.

Hours and Salary: Seasonal/Part-time, typically 16-24 hours per week, May through mid-October, with additional hours during the months of August and September, and the Fair weekend, as required. The target hourly rate is $18/hour, dependent upon experience.
