Beginner Hide Tanning – Fall Workshop

November 13, 2019 – Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center. Fee: $75; $50 for MOFGA members. Join us for a hands-on workshop about the ancient art of turning animal hides into soft leathers or beautiful furs. We’ll spend the day learning the basics of hide tanning in the traditional way, and you’ll go home with the know-how and skills you need to start tanning on your own. Bring a bagged lunch. Low Impact Forestry Workshops

November 14-17, 2019 – Four days of workshops, Thursday - Sunday, MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center, Unity, Maine. A series of workshops designed for stewards of small or large woodlots to develop skills to cut and harvest wood products safely and ecologically. Learn and practice sustainable woodlot management and logging with animals or low-impact machinery.

 

Introduction to Low Impact Forestry
Thursday, November 14 – MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center, Unity
PRICE $125 – REQUIRED PRE-REQUISITE for Draft and Mechanical Logging Workshops
Taught by foresters, soil scientists, and experienced landowners, this one-day introductory field course serves as a great introduction to the philosophy of Low-Impact forestry.

Logging with Draft Animals Workshop

PRICE $425 – includes all meals & basic accommodations and the required pre-requisite Introduction to Low-Impact Forestry
This four-day workshop begins with Introduction to Low-Impact Forestry, a required pre-requisite for the following three days of instruction in logging with draft animals.

Chainsaw Safety Training

November 15 and 16, 2019 – Friday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center, Unity. Registration is full. Individuals interested in taking the course can contact Noah at forestry@mofga.org to get on the waiting list.
