US Senate Vote on Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) Likely By The End Of This Week

Background:

We are entering final crunch time in the campaign against CAFTA. Last week, President Bush sent the CAFTA legislation to Congress. There is a very good chance that CAFTA will be voted on in the Senate as soon as this Thursday, June 30 or Friday, July 1.

In Maine we need to do everything that we can to get Senator Susan Collins to vote "NO" on CAFTA. Senator Collins is the only member of Maine's Congressional delegation who does not yet oppose CAFTA. We can make the difference and pressure her to vote "NO."

Here is what you can do to help:

1. Call Senator Collins today and tell her to vote "No" on CAFTA

Collins' Phone #s:

Washington, DC: 202-224-2523
Portland: 207-780-3575
Lewiston: 207-784-6969
Bangor: 207-945-0417

If possible, call her DC office AND a local office.

2. After you call, encourage your friends and contacts to call. It is urgent that we flood Senator Collins with calls.

3. If you can get letters or petitions signed or if you have already signed letters, petitions or postcards drop them off at Sen. Collins local office by Wednesday June 29.

4. If you want more info on CAFTA go to:
