Spring 2005 Seed Swap and Scion Exchange

SATURDAY MARCH 26 !

For gardeners and orchardists itšs a little like having Christmas in March. On Saturday March 26, from 12 to 4:30, the Maine Tree Crop Alliance, the Maine Seed Saving Network, Fedco and the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association will host the sixth annual combined Seed Swap and Scionwood Exchange, to be held in Mofgašs Common Ground Exhibition Hall in Unity. Usually held on the last Sunday of March, we have moved it back a day since Sunday the 27th is Easter.

There will be the usual selection of interesting educational workshops for seed savers and fruit enthusiasts. Nicholas Lindholm will present the basics of seed saving and Mark Fulford be teaching grafting techniques. Will Bonsall will be holding an applesauce tasting, featuring several one-variety apple sauces.

Please bring any seeds, scionwood, or cuttings you have to share freely with others. These contributions are what make the day a success. Wešll supply the labels and tape and markers. On sale will be T-shirts, books, grafting supplies, rootstocks and even some rare seeds. There is no admission fee though donations are welcome. For more information, call or email the MOFGA office.
