ARTWORK COMPETITION FOR THE 26th ANNUAL COMMON GROUND COUNTRY FAIR

June 20, 2001 (Unity, Maine) -- The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) announces a poster contest for the 2002 Common Ground Country Fair. The selected artwork will be featured on the year 2002 Fair poster, t-shirts, other Fair merchandise, and promotional literature. Newspaper articles and press releases will focus on the artist and the artwork. The winning artist will receive $1000.00.

MOFGA holds a contest each year, and, in August, chooses the artwork for the following year's Fair. The contest is open to Maine residents and MOFGA members (regardless of residence) only. Artists may submit two entries. All entries must arrive in the MOFGA office by 4 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2001. Selection will be made by September 1, 2001. MOFGA will retain full rights to the design.

All interested artists should contact the Common Ground Country Fair office for a complete list of criteria and an application form. The address is PO Box 170, Unity, Maine. Phone: 207-568-4142. Email: cgcf@mofga.org. Registration forms for the contest also are available on MOFGA's website -- www.mofga.org.

The 2001 poster contest winner was Joyce Dubay of New Vineyard. Joyce's painting features three wooly sheep. The posters are on display in shops throughout the State now, and will be on sale at the Fair for $10.00. If Joyce's sheep poster doesn't sell out, it will become a collector's item and the price will go up to $15.00.

The Common Ground Country Fair will take place at MOFGA's home in Unity on September 21, 22 & 23.
