MEDIA AREA GUIDELINES

Coordinator: Jim Grant

Purpose: The purpose of the Media Area of the Common Ground Country Fair (CGCF) is to promote Maine-based media outlets and businesses that embrace the goals and objectives of MOFGA by providing valuable information on the following topics: organic farming and gardening; environmental protection; stewardship of natural resources; local food production and consumption; and the revival of agriculturally-based, rural communities. The CGCF considers out-of-state applications to the Media Area on a case-by-case basis.

Guidelines:

1. Applicants must read and abide by the general guidelines for the Common Ground Country Fair.

2. Vendors must reside in Maine, and represent Maine-based businesses or organizations. The CGCF will consider an application from an out-of-state, media-oriented business or organization if its mission meets the criteria listed in the purpose statement above, and it provides information relevant to sustainable living in Maine.

3. Businesses and organizations eligible to apply for space in the Media Area include, but are not limited to: newspapers; newsletters; magazines and journals; websites; radio stations; television stations; bookstores and newsstands; and publishing companies.

4. Applicants must list on their applications all items and services that they wish to sell. Vendors may sell only items and services approved for sale by the Media Area Coordinator.

5. Vendors may not share booth space. Each business or organization must apply for booth space separately.

6. The Media Area encourages presentation of a wide range of issues and perspectives. It is conceivable that groups with opposing views on an issue may participate in the area at the same time. Participants in such groups must be respectful of those with views and perspectives different from their own and, while making their disagreements clear, must refrain from maligning the program or mission of another organization.

7. Exhibitors intending to use radio, television, VCR or other amplification equipment for presentations must provide headphones for fairgoers. Such presentations must not be audible to neighbouring exhibitors or passers-by.
