Put on Your Organic Running Shoes!
As I looked out my window in June, searching for rays of sunlight, organic of course, I pondered how all these droplets of organic rain would become an asset for both the Common Ground Fair and certainly our “loudly” proclaimed, one and only, organic 5k. It seems like only yesterday that we proudly proclaimed the race “organic,” and viewing the numbers of runners participating, I can only agree.
I recently heard that Apple’s iPods can be connected to Nike shoes to tell how far and how fast you’ve run. I wonder what happens when you alternate shoes? Would running Common Ground’s organic event preclude such high-tech adaptation?
I have yet to inquire whether Maine’s DOT has begun using organic asphalt along our course to justify our claim of being “organic,” but where else can you actually run alongside a fairground full of nature’s best? I, of course, have spent the past 12 months researching our claim for an “organic” road race and have decided that due to our continued infusion of organic raindrops last spring, and the summer-inspired “organic” sunshine, I can truly appreciate the luxury of having an organic runner’s high on an organic road race course. It isn’t every day that such circumstances come our way. In fact I have thought of asking the world renowned Cosmic Muffin to give me ratings for our race day and our course. I am certain he would rate all at least a “10.”
Given this newfound enthusiasm for ensuring that our course stays organic and getting great ratings from the Cosmic Muffin, I behoove all of you runners and walkers to once again converge on Sunday morning early enough to put forth your organic running shoes on our fine organic 5k course. Just remember to save enough energy (called rapid recuperation from breathing in pure organic fall air) to enjoy the Fair afterward.
See you on Sunday!
