39th Annual Common Ground Country Fair Race Recap
2015's race started on a foggy morning as the sunrise painted the sky. Just under 100 runners toed the line to compete in the 39th annual Common Ground Fair 5000 meters on Sunday. Just like every year, the race served as a great introduction to the final day of the fair.
During the initial stages of the race, runners jockeyed for position, traversing the perimeter of MOFGA and transitioning into the fields sector of the race. Peter Kraus distanced himself from Everett Ottinger in the final 1/2 of the race to definitively win the men's title in 17:04. The Women's race once again saw great talent in Leah Frost, as she broke her previous course record of 18:55 and claimed the women's title in a new record time of 18:28. Ashley Gorr and Rosalea Kimball both ran very impressive times of 19:19 and 19:31 respectively to round out a quality women's top three.
