This is National Pollinator Week, so proclaimed in 2007 by the U.S. Senate. You can support pollinators by avoiding or not using pesticides, growing plants (preferably natives) that support pollinators throughout the season, providing shallow trays of water or dripping water and constructing nesting houses for native pollinators. MOFGA has run numerous articles about pollinators in The Maine Organic Farmer & Gardener. Here are just a few:

Going Native with Pollinators,” by Sue Smith-Heavenrich

Creating Native Plant Corridors for Pollinators and Wildlife,” by Heather McCargo

Growing Medicinal Herbs and Flowers for the Plant Pollinators,” by Deb Soule
