"The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination."
- John Scharr

Organic and Sustainable Agriculture News
Maine should lead Washington on climate policy
Bangor Daily News - 12/24/2013.
By Peter Mills and Sharon S. Tisher - It is fortunate for all 7 billion people on Earth that humans are finally learning new ways to produce and use energy. Examples are legion: hybrid cars, LED light bulbs, more economical wind, solar and hydropower, super-insulated buildings and fiber-optic communications to reduce physical travel and postal messaging.
Northern Shrimp: first casualty of New England warming water?
The Working Waterfront - 12/23/2013.
By Ben Martens - Maine's traditional small boat fishermen are in trouble. Those in our struggling groundfish fishery have increasingly depended on shrimp to supplement their income in the winter months. For some of Maine's small-boat trawl fisherman, shrimp has made up almost 50 percent of their income in recent years and with the closing of this fishery any income from shrimp has been wiped off the books for 2014.
EPA’s system of tracking pesticides harmful to honeybees, critics say
The Washington Post - 12/22/2013.
By Kendall Helblig - The honeybees that pollinate one-third of Americans’ daily diet are dying, and in the eyes of some environmentalists, one culprit may be a decades-old Environmental Protection Agency system.
Feinstein to Obama: Move without Congress on GMOs
The Hill - 12/22/2013.
By Ben Goad - Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) is urging President Obama to use the power of his office to require labels on food containing genetically engineered ingredients.
