Learn to propagate and reproduce your favorite fruit tree varieties. Instructors Jennifer Ries of Whiffletree Nursery and Anne Hallee of Rising Up Farm in the Unity workshop, and C.J. Walke, MOFGA's Organic Orchard Educator in the Bar Harbor workshop,​ will explain why to graft and will demonstrate the techniques for Whip & Tongue grafting. Participants will graft trees to take home and plant. Care for the new trees will also be discussed. More details on the registration link below.

GMOSeralini.org welcomes the news of the republication of the chronic toxicity study on the glyphosate-based herbicide Roundup and a commercialized genetically modified (GM) maize, Monsanto’s NK603, led by Prof Gilles-Eric Séralini. The republication restores the study to the peer-reviewed literature so that it can be consulted and built upon by other scientists.

By Estelle Cassault-Meyer et al. - Fifteen 60-day-old male rate were exposed to 0.5 percent Roundup (similar to the concentration on water after agricultural spraying) for eight days. Monitoring at days 68, 87, and 122 after treatment showed abnormal sperm morphology and decreased expression of two proteins despite a normal sperm concentration and motility.
UC Davis MIND Institute study finds association between maternal exposure to agricultural pesticides, autism in offspring

Pregnant women who lived in close proximity to fields and farms where chemical pesticides were applied experienced a two-thirds increased risk of having a child with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental delay, a study by researchers with the UC Davis MIND Institute has found. The associations were stronger when the exposures occurred during the second and third trimesters of the women’s pregnancies.
