GM Watch - 2/20/2015. 6000 farmers marched in Warsaw to protest the Polish government's failure to address their long-standing demands. After failed talks between Solidarity Union leaders and the prime minister during the afternoon, farmers built an occupation camp outside the prime minister's palace and have vowed to remain until their demands are met.
|Scientists call on media to honestly report lack of GMO safety consensus|
GM Watch - 2/19/2015. On the heels of the USDA deregulation of the Arctic® apple - the first GM apple – leading consumer, food safety and environmental groups issued a response to widespread media reports wrongly characterizing the science on GMOs as settled. Scientist representatives of groups including Consumers Union, Center for Food Safety, Friends of the Earth and Pesticide Action Network are among over 300 scientists who signed the statement, “No consensus on GMO safety”, which has recently been published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Irrespective of contradictory evidence in the refereed literature, as documented below, the claim that there is now a consensus on the safety of GMOs continues to be widely and often uncritically aired.
