Know Your Organic Producers!

Joel and Annalisa Wild Miller of Wild Miller Farm in Palermo raise MOFGA-certified organic produce and hay, which they sell through their farm stand/credit-system CSA, wholesale accounts and at the Common Ground Country Fair. They farm with draft horses and say, "We believe that carefully executed and ecologically sound farming is an art, something we constantly strive for. Also that farming with draft animals is a craft, one that we try to improve upon every day." They are also raising their two young children on the farm. For more information, please visit

Farm Bill News Worth Getting Excited About
TakePart - 2/25/2013.
By Twilight Greenaway - Have you written off the Farm Bill as another sad example of Congressional inaction turned stop-gap effort to placate the Big Ag status quo? There’s good reason to tune back in. It looks like proposed legislation, in the form of a larger sequestration-prevention plan from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), also includes a less-discussed Farm Bill fix.
Romesco Sauce
Maine Food & Lifestyle - 2/25/2013.
By Laura Cabot - Romesco is a classic Spanish sauce, originating from the city of Tarragona in Catalonia, in Northeastern Spain. I am craving it right now mixed with freshly shelled and cooked Maine shrimp, dolloped on top of a nice piece of pan roasted halibut fillet.
Pandora’s Boxes
Orion - 2/25/2013.
By Heather Millar - Looking a lot like the government bad guys in E.T., two men cautiously hover over a row of boxes containing native sedges, water grasses, and Zebra fish to spray a fine mist of silver nanoparticles over them. Their goal: to investigate how the world inside the boxes is altered by these essentially invisible and notoriously unpredictable particles.
Fight unhealthy food, not fat people
The Guardian [UK] - 2/24/2013.
By Jill Filipovic - It's hardly breaking news that junk food is bad for us. But just how bad - and just how much food companies know about the addictive components of certain foods, and just how much they deliberately target the most vulnerable consumers knowing they are doing damage - is still being discovered.
