Common Dreams - 8/21/2015.
By Jim Goodman - Last month, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1599, the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015. A gross misnomer, of course, since the bill's real purpose is to preempt the rights of state and local governments to pass laws requiring the mandatory labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), to overturn GMO labeling laws already in place in several states, and to prevent the passage of any federal mandatory GMO labeling law in the future.

Resilience - 8/21/2015.
By Karen Rybold-Chin, Greg David - On The Earth Productions: Joel Salatin, a keynote speaker at the Mother Earth fair, talks about “cow days” and the value of using technology as a co-laborer with nature. Just as “a carpenter uses inches, a wheat farmer uses bushels, and a water manager uses gallons, a cow day is a constant measure of what a cow will eat in a day.”
