Online ticket sales for the 2014 Common Ground Country Fair are CLOSED.

Ticket prices at the gates are increasing to help support improved services and higher operation costs. You may still buy Advance Tickets at any of the OUTLETS LISTED HERE up until Fair time.

Our Store is now closed except for memberships, donations and registrations for events and workshops so that we may focus on getting our new inventory ready for the Country Store on the fairgrounds. 2014 Fair T-shirts, tote bags, aprons and more will be available online by October 1.

Organic and Sustainable Agriculture News
Industrial Poultry Processing: Unsafe at These Speeds
Southern Poverty Law Center - 3/20/2013.
Every day in Alabama, thousands of people report to work at vast poultry processing plants. Inside these frigid plants, workers stand almost shoulder-to-shoulder as chicken carcasses zip by on high-speed processing lines. Together, small teams of workers may hang, gut or slice more than 100 birds in a single minute. It’s a process they’ll repeat for eight hours or more in order to prepare birds for dinner tables and restaurants across America.

By Meredith Goad - Darker maple syrup, which in Maine is called Grade A Extra Dark Amber, would be labeled Grade B in Vermont and New Hampshire. In New York, the label might read "Extra Dark for Cooking." And in Canada, it's called "No. 2 Amber." Confused?
Bay Area grocery stores pledge not to sell genetically modified fish
San Jose Mercury News - 3/20/2013.
By Heather Somerville - In a dramatic sign of the growing wariness about genetically modified food, some of the nation's largest grocers, including Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, will announce Wednesday they will not sell a type of salmon engineered by a biotech firm.
Flies, Maggots, Rats, and Lots of Poop: What Big Ag Doesn't Want You To See
Mother Jones - 3/20/2013.
By Tom Philpott - What's it like inside a factory farm? If the livestock and meat industries have their way, what little view we have inside the walls of these animal-reviewing facilities may soon be obscured.
