This is a two-day immersion course (free for MOFGA apprentices) open to any participants interested in learning the fundamental principles and practices of organic farming.
Join specialists from MOFGA's Agricultural Services Department and a panel of organic farmers for a two-day introductory course in organic farming. Register for either or both days. Lunch will be provided.

May 20-22 - Northeast Livestock Expo
Windsor Fairgrounds, Windsor, Maine. This free, three-day livestock event will showcase beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits and many science-related activities. Information.
May 21-22 - Chainsaw Safety Level 1 for Women at Hidden Valley Nature Center
Join Midcoast Conservancy at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson for a 1-1/2-day introduction to efficient, safe use of chainsaws. $130 for Midcoast Conservancy and MOFGA members; $150 for non-members. Scholarships available upon request. Information.

June 11 - Farm & Homestead Day at MOFGA
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center, Unity. A free, all volunteer, skill share event featuring participatory workshops for resilient living. More than 50 family friendly, hands-on workshops include gardening, fiber arts, food preparation, many small construction projects, herbs, animals, and more. A potluck picnic lunch will include freshly dug bean hole beans, stone soups made on site, and breads you make, baked in an Earth Oven. Come dressed for the weather, roll up your sleeves, and dig in! June 29 - Conservation Farm Tour: Cover Crop Demonstration
4-6 p.m., New Leaf Farm, Durham. Led by Dave Colson, MOFGA's agricultural services director. Learn about types of cover crops, pros and cons of each and programs to help with crop rotation on your farm.
