Online ticket sales for the 2014 Common Ground Country Fair are CLOSED.

Ticket prices at the gates are increasing to help support improved services and higher operation costs. You may still buy Advance Tickets at any of the OUTLETS LISTED HERE up until Fair time.

Our Store is now closed except for memberships, donations and registrations for events and workshops so that we may focus on getting our new inventory ready for the Country Store on the fairgrounds. 2014 Fair T-shirts, tote bags, aprons and more will be available online by October 1.

Organic and Sustainable Agriculture News
These seafood pies cut others in on the profits
Portland Press Herald - 1/5/2011.
By Meredith Goad – Portland: Sam Hayward is a James Beard Award-winning chef who is known for his commitment to local foods that express the terroir of Maine. Some chefs might try to capitalize on that kind of notoriety, but Hayward has always just focused on his food. He hasn't been interested in using his reputation to manufacture new food products. So why is his photo on the back of the box of a new line of seafood pies in the freezer case at Hannaford?
Two Portlanders chronicle their year of eating locally
Portland Press Herald - 1/5/2011.
By Avery Yale Kamila – In foodie culture, eating local is all the rage. But few go as far as Luke Fuller and Cassi Madison. The recently engaged couple reached their one-year anniversary this week of eating a diet made up almost exclusively of Maine food.
2 recipes to covert Brussels sprouts haters
Bangor Daily News - 1/5/2011.
By Sandy Oliver – Lots of people still wrinkle up their nose when they hear Brussels sprouts mentioned. It’s too bad really, and only because most sprout haters never had one that had been through a couple of good freezes.
World food prices enter 'danger territory' to reach record high
The Guardian [UK] - 1/5/2011.
By Jill Treanor – Soaring prices of sugar, grain and oilseed drove world food prices to a record in December, surpassing the levels of 2008 when the cost of food sparked riots around the world, and prompting warnings of prices being in "danger territory". An index compiled monthly by the United Nations surpassed its previous monthly high – June 2008 – in December to reach the highest level since records began in 1990.
