October 5 - Farm Tour of Apple Creek Farm, Bowdoinham
Thursday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., 538 Millay Rd., Bowdoinham. Farmers Abby Sadauckas and Jake Galle will discuss how use of the Maine Grass Farmer's Network (MGFN) no-till drill has helped them to integrate new plant species in their pastures, seed new fields, and test the use of tillage radish for reduction of soil compaction. The farmers will share progress on their SARE farmer grant, using forage radish to combat compaction in hay and pasture land. Attendees will get to see the farmers' home farm as well as new land that was cleared in the summer of 2017. The pasture walk will begin at 538 Millay Road (parking at the top of the driveway). Please dress appropriately for a lengthy tour on foot. Farm website.
