"Perhaps the most radical thing you can do in our time is to start turning over the soil, loosening it up for the crops to settle in, and then stay home and tend them."
- Rebecca Solnit

Visiting Triple Chick Farm and Surry Gardens in Maine
Martha Stewart - 6/19/2013.
By Martha Stewart - You may recall a recent blog posting about planting all the urns that adorn the terrace at Skylands, my home in Mt. Desert Island, Maine. In between planting, my traveling companions and I took a little jaunt to visit a few places in the area. One of my favorite farm stands is at Triple Chick Farm located in Town Hill, Maine. They grow the most amazing organic produce, along with flowers, herbs, fruits, and eggs.
25,000 bumblebees killed, dropping from trees in Wilsonville; pesticide suspected
The Oregonian - 6/19/2013.
By Elizabeth Case - An estimated 25,000 bumblebees have been found dead in a Target parking lot in Wilsonville since Saturday, the largest known incident of bumblebee deaths in the United States, according to the Xerces Society. Preliminary information suggests pesticides may be at fault. Initial findings indicate the trees were sprayed Saturday with a neonicotinoid insecticide called Safari. The bumblebee deaths marked an inauspicious start to National Pollinator Week, which runs through June 23.
