$35 for MOFGA members and $50 for non-members

Designed for farmers and others interested in home-food processing for resale.

Licensing requirements, food safety, and liability insurance will be covered by a panel of experts. Participants will then tour a licensed kitchen before being served a local, seasonal, organic luncheon.

The afternoon program will include a panel of processors who will discuss the benefits and shortcomings of home licensed and commercial kitchens.

Organic Valley, the nation’s largest cooperative of organic farmers and a leading organic brand, today announced that its first Generation Organic™ Teach-In is underway. “Gen-O™” farmers are visiting more than 84 classrooms across the nation through Oct. 25, educating over 1,825 students in grades K-5 on the benefits of organic food and farming.

To the 900,000 supporters of the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), the organization seems to have the interests of our agricultural producers at heart. After all, they launched Food Day, “a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food.” Across the country, organizations involved in food production, food justice, cooking and health are celebrating. Their Food Day website is full of articles about “eating real” and sustainable food production and a celebration of fresh, local food production.
