In January the Partridge Foundation awarded $1.0 million to establish an endowment to support MOFGA’s New Farmer Programs. It also pledged an additional $1.0 million if MOFGA can raise a similar amount before 2016. Read more.

Join us for this year’s Farmer to Farmer Conference in Northport, Maine. Keynote speaker Dan Brisebois will discuss Integrating Seed Production Into a Market Garden at Tourne-Sol Co-operative Farm (in Quebec). The conference features a unique 3-hour workshop session format, half dedicated to talks by farmers and other agricultural professionals and half dedicated to a roundtable discussion that solicits and builds on the accumulated knowledge of the attending farmers. By Susan McMillan - Augusta: A panel at the University of Maine at Augusta on Sunday reported that Maine's land, growing conditions and location in the Northeast make the state well-positioned for growth in agriculture. Challenges include land prices, the workforce and infrastructure to support farms, said John Piotti, executive director of Maine Farmland Trust. Orchardist Marilyn Meyerhans and farmer L. Herbert "Bussie" York were the other speakers.
