A graduate of MOFGA's Journeyperson Program, Lewis produces vine fruits, vegetables, edible flowers, annual cut flowers, vegetable seedlings and some herbs, which she sells through a CSA, at farmers' cooperatives and farmers' markets (including Augusta, China, and the Belfast winter market). By Susan McMillan - Augusta: A panel at the University of Maine at Augusta on Sunday reported that Maine's land, growing conditions and location in the Northeast make the state well-positioned for growth in agriculture. Challenges include land prices, the workforce and infrastructure to support farms, said John Piotti, executive director of Maine Farmland Trust. Orchardist Marilyn Meyerhans and farmer L. Herbert "Bussie" York were the other speakers.
