Editorial - Starting Friday, the approximately 250,000 Mainers who rely on food stamps will have fewer resources to spend on filling their plates. That’s the day when a temporary boost from the 2009 stimulus bill will expire. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will be cut by $5 billion nationwide. The average family of four will lose the funds for a week’s worth of meals a month.

The study is one of the first to investigate potential human health effects of pyrethroids, which are used in more than 3,500 commercial products, including flea bombs and roach sprays.
